It should be no surprise the Texas Department of Public Safety announced it will have troopers out in full force during the labor day holiday period. They will have extra troopers on duty, and will also focus on high risk areas, where accidents occur most often.

According to the DPS press release there were 1,879 DWI arrests during this period last, and they claim 503 were the result of increased enforcement. That means that more than a 1/4 of the arrests for driving while intoxicated are the results of the extra patrols. That's 503 extra people that got arrested and went to jail

The labor day holiday is already underway - it started on August 19 and runs through September 9.

So if you are going to drink during the next several weeks do it responsibility, and make arrangements to get where you want to go. Not only will you will doing yourself a favor, you also could be doing a favor for someone else.
